What is postpartum doula care?
For a lot of parents, first time or otherwise, the early days and months with a new baby can be the most challenging. Postpartum doula support can help take some weight off of your shoulders and allow for a smoother transition into parenthood and postpartum recovery. Postpartum support varies for every family, reflecting each family’s needs. Our doulas provide both daytime and nighttime postpartum services.
For nighttime support, our doulas are focused on helping to establish healthy sleep routines. We handle all overnight baby care including feedings (or if breastfeeding, we can bring baby to you). Our goal overnight is to allow you to get the most sleep as you can, as sleep is a major part of the healing process, while making sure your baby is taken care of and developing good sleep habits!
Daytime support looks different than night time support. During the day, while we are with you, our goal is to make your postpartum journey smoother. Whether that involves baby care, giving tips and tricks to make life with a newborn easier, breastfeeding support, a non judgemental listening ear, chores related to baby (ex: washing bottles, folding baby laundry), our doulas are ready to support in any way you may need.
Our doulas are also well educated and experienced in not only baby care but postpartum recovery and what the body goes through during the postpartum period.
Becoming a parent is an extremely difficult life transition. The saying ‘it takes a village’ is very true, but most of us don’t have a village to lean on. That is where postpartum doulas come in. Postpartum doula support is versatile and our doulas are flexible and are eager to help in any way that makes the first few months with your little one as enjoyable as possible.
